Along west coast to Franz Josef glacier

We drove on the road between Westport and Greymouth, which by the lonely planet, one of the world's best road trip. It was true, it was beautiful to see the mountains meet the sea, the green and the blue ! We stopped at the pancakes in Punaikaiki.

The pancakes

We met some old car, on the road, because there was a tour to Haast.

At the end of the day, we were at franz josef glacier, it one of the closer's glacier of the sea, which is about 30km from the coast. We did the track to go at the bottom of it, it was 1h walk. and then, we were going to Fox glacier, which is about half an hour drive from Franz Josef,

And then stopped at lake Matherson, famous for the reflexion that you can have, if there is no wind, you can see the reflexion of Mt cook and Mt Tasman on it, which is on lot of NZ's post card. But the weather was not fine and clouds were in front of the moutains.

From lake Matherson by cloudy weather.

We decided to stay over there at night to hope find a fine weather the day after. We found a place to put the tent on a rest area at 5min drive from the lake.
