Welcome in Northern Territory !
After passing in Northern Territory, to go to Darwin few months ago, I'm coming back under a cloudy weather.
We crossed Cooper Pedy, strange city, lot of hole all around the city, 'cause it's the Opal capital of Australia.
Almost half the population lives in dugouts (underground rooms) 'cause it's an hard climate and temperatures can soar to over 50°c.
After driving few kilometers on Stuart Highway, and met some strange cloud, we saw the Ayers Rock's sign.
Middle of the afternoon, we arrived at Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, welcome in Anangu earth ("Pukulpa pitjama ananguku ngurakutu" aboriginal language).
Just in time to go on Kata Tjuta site.
Kata Tjuta, it's about 30 kms west of Ayers Rock, this is a striking group of domed rocks cluster together to form small valleys and gorges. We have done the walking track in the Valley of the winds and had a wonderful view of surreal boulders from the lookout.
As a good australian, i've always my sunglasses with me, even if we have bad weather (like italian girl in italy)
It was funny, because we'd met a group of people who'd take a tour and they had all the stuff to walk in the moutain like a backpack, water, walking shoes... and us, just shorts, camera and of course flip-flap.
This the end of the Great Central Road between Perth and Alice Springs, we would like do it, but don't think about that when you've a relocation car.
At night, camping in the Ayers Rock resort campground, 'cause we can't sleep in the National Park, too much ranger and it's prohibited.
They just want to make more money, because we need to pay the entrance for the National Park (25$ ea) and 31$ for the campground.
From my point of view, I'm not sure that there are money for Aboriginal. One more business again !
