Welcome in South Australia !
After few hours drive, near the Great Australian Bight Marine Park we met cyclist, and I would like to say : "chapeau bas"
So we need to be in Alice Springs in 3 days (we took a relocation of 5 days), we want to see Uluru, and we've got a 4WD...we decided to take a short cut to join the Stuart Highway (Highway which join Darwin to Adelaïde) between Wirulla and Kingoonya. Without passing Port Augusta, we saved 500 kms. It's an unsealed road, but no worries with a Toyota Hilux 3,0L D-4-D.
Really good to do, drive in the middle of nowhere, on an off road !
It was 250 kms in the middle of salt lakes and some desert parts. The dirt road was not that bad, 'cause I was a pretty good driver (a bit like Collin Mc Rae). We met just one car one the way, not that busy !
At night, camping on a rest area and I was glad to take my first outback/bush shower since 3 days, I began to smell a bit bad under my arms. But we can't say no at a bush shower with a sunset like that.

Did you visit the Kingoonya Hotel on your way through? It is nice to see someone taking the road less travelled.
